ABOUT Misty Cove winery Marlborough on the South Island of New Zealand. Many wonderful White wine are cultivated due to the temperature difference between day and night, long daylight hours, and soil suitable for growing wine. The name of the winery, "Misty Cove", means a cove of fog and is derived from the beautiful scenery of "Marlboro Sound", which is also famous as a tourist destination in Marlborough. A long, intricate cove with a total length of 1,500 km and a beautiful beach, the beautiful cove is inhabited by abundant virgin forest, and it is as beautiful as a postcard. The seawater that evaporates, warmed by the heat of the sun during the day, eventually becomes fog, covering the Marlborough sound. The scene is very beautiful and very mysterious. Andrew Bailey, owner of Misty Cove, said, "It's natural that fine wines are delicious, but I want to make delicious wines at a price that everyone can afford." I decided to start making wine in Marlborough. In addition, this winery considers the natural environment, the fields are sustainable, and the conversion to organic is underway. At the winery, we use fossil fuels to reduce the use of electricity and waste, and strive to recycle and reuse it. The wines made at Misty Cove Winery have won numerous awards and have been recognized and highly evaluated by wine lovers around the world, including being used in Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. ≪Landmark Chardonnay 2017 ≫ This landmark series is produced in the selected fields of Misty Cove. This Chardonnay is hand-picked and pressed with the whole bunch of grapes. One-third is placed in new French oak barrels and the rest in old French oak barrels, which are fermented with wild yeast. The new barrel is used to give fragrant aroma, spiciness and body, and the old barrel is used to express the smooth texture and fresh taste of fruits. After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation is performed and left to stand with starch for 6 months (Sur lie manufacturing method). It is made by the traditional Chardonnay method of barrel fermentation, barrel aging and sur lie. Origin: Marlboro Grape varieties: 100% Chardonnay Alcohol content: 13% ≪Tasting comment≫ The aromas of seeded fruits such as apples, peaches and plums, and the aromas of vanilla, nuts and French oak are complex. It has a good balance of acidity, fruit and tannins, and you can feel the minerality. It can be said that it is a rich, heavy and rich wine among white wines. It goes perfectly with dishes that use plenty of butter, such as white fish, scallops, or sautéed chicken butter!
